2 Months Old!

Cadence Paul is 2 months old!
It is crazy to think two months has gone by and that we are now seasoned parents. Ha! The last few months have been absolutely amazing and we fall more in love with him daily. Looking back, here are some of our memorable moment.

First's:
1. Learning to swaddle effectively- sleep saver!
2. The feeling of poo hitting you from across the changing table at 2am!
3. Being peed on- Tim holds the record with 5 times- twice on the face!
4. Milk Spit-ups.

Favorites:
1. Whenever he smiles at us.
2. Rolling over while doing tummy time.
3. New sounds that he makes.
4. Bathtime.
5. Cute tiny clothes.
6. His blue eyes.

New Favorite Picture

One piece of technology that I'm so thankful for is skype! It is always such a joy to see the faces of family and get to visit via video! This little technological tool has also become a blessing to interact with Tim throughout the day. 8 hours is quite a long time to be away from each other so on my days off from work we would try to skype for a few minutes to catch up with each other in the middle of our days. Now that Cade has joined us it is also a treat for Tim to get to see Cade during the day and not have to wait until he comes home after work. This morning Tim snapped a few pictures of us while we were skyping so he could have new pics of Cade on his laptop and this one is a new favorite. As soon as I help Cade up to the camera he stopped fussing and starting smiling and making adorable sounds...I'm sure it had something to do with seeing his daddy!

Cadence Paul Shelton

January 21, 2013 at 6:36pm Tim and I experienced one of the most beautiful moments as we met our son for the first time. After four and a half hours of pushing we were most definitely ready to meet him and, like every mom tells you, the moment you do, all the pain and work immediately disappears and you feel a rush of emotion that is hard to explain. He is beautiful and we fall more in love with him each day. We are so thankful for our family and friends who have been such a source of prayer and support as we've started this new adventure! And most of all we are thankful to our Lord who continues to be faithful and overflow us with His blessings.

Here is a video we took a few nights ago of our little man. He is growing quickly and is starting to make adorable new sounds.

The wait to meet CADENCE

We are 6 days away from Cadence Paul's due date! We will just have to wait and see what day he actually decides to join us but Tim and I are feeling the excitement and anticipation grow as we wait to meet him. The last few weeks we have spent soaking up special moments together remembering the amazing 4 years of marriage God has blessed us with and looking forward to the new adventures of starting our family! We've also been reflecting on how awesome God is and how we have seen His hands at work throughout the entire process of our pregnancy. He has been so faithful and provided in so many ways from overall health and ease of pregnancy to complete health coverage; from physical needs to growing closer in our marriage. And as we approach labor and parent-hood and all the emotions that come with that, we can't help but walk forward with confidence in the truth that we know- God is Good!

Cadence's room is finished and waiting for him. Sometimes I just go and stand in his room. As much as I love how it turned out, I get excited thinking about how much more complete it will be when he is here. Just wanted to share pictures of his bedroom so you can picture exactly where we will be bringing him home too.

Oh Crepes!

Tim and I have embarked on an adventure of trying to create delectable and heavenly foods to enjoy. We do not claim to have any talent or ability in the arts of baking and have decided to change that and delve into the world of baked goods. Now, I know that crepes are not a baked item, however, they sounded delicious and we have never made them before. So here is the outcome of our first attempt!
Really, crepes are very basic. The recipe we used is as follows:
2 eggs, beaten
1 and 1/2 cups milk
1 cup flour
1 tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt.
Mix together until smooth. Lightly grease a 6-inch skillet. Pour about 2 tbsp of batter into skillet, tilting the skillet until batter has spread evenly. Cook until browned beautifully on both sides. Then you get to fill it will whatever your little mouth desires and enjoy!!!
We chose to use vanilla yogurt, fresh strawberries and blueberries, drizzled honey, and a little powdered sugar sprinkled on top. They were delicious and with so many filling options this just may become a Saturday morning favorite!

Lucky Charms....

They are a wonderful thing. Frosted cereal (whole grain I might add) with colorful and magical marshmallows! The thing is I never buy this cereal because I will inevitably eat the whole box myself as Tim is not a fan of this sugary creation and because I always feel some level of guilt at buying it. But last night, while food shopping, I overcame the guilt and boldly bought myself a box of Lucky Charms. I have now enjoyed 2 and half bowls in less than 24 hours....still no guilt and I'm enjoying each bite I take. Something so simple and yet an indulgent treat adds just a little fun to the day. So whatever your indulgence looks like...a luscious latte, double stuffed oreo cookies, chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter spread over them (Tim), treat yourself to it today!
